NOW AVAILABLE: CALAVERAS COUNTY INDEX TO DEATH RECORDS. At the Calaveras County Main Public Library, Genealogy Section at 891 Mt. Ranch Road in San Andreas, CA and in the Calaveras Genealogical Society's newsletter,"The Froghorn". There are many cemetery sites in Calaveras County, some of them holding only a few graves or with all evidence of graves vanished. The Calaveras Genealogical Society formed a committee in 2005 to re-survey all the existing cemetery sites using the original data done by well known local researcher Herb Good and updating it. The cemeteries that no longer exist will be indexed by using old written data from the archives, library and other sources. When the survey is completed! the indexes for the different cemetery sites will be searchable alphabetically. In conjunction with the cemetery project the Society is also doing an obituary project to form an index of all known deaths in Calaveras County and to add the information from the written obituaries so that researchers will have access to even more information on their ancestors. The cemeteries that we know to have existed in Calaveras County are: Altaville Catholic, Greek and Protestant Cemeteries Avery-Mentz Ranch Cemetery Brownsville Cemetery County Hospital's Cemeteries about 400 graves Comanche Dorsey-Holman-Osterman Cemetery Double Springs Cemetery Hill Cemetery 30 graves Poverty Bar Cemetery 41 graves Sheridan-Diebold Cemetery 10 graves Miner's Cemetery 3 graves Lancha Plana Cemetery 1 grave Bigelow Grave Site 2 graves Campo Seco Catholic and Protestant Cemetery Copperopolis with Catholic, IOOF, Masonic, Protestant Dean Cemetery Dog Town Chinese Cemetery Double Springs Cemetery Esmeralda area cemeteries Happy Hollow Ranch Davis Ranch Briseno-Ponte Baker Family Davis Family San Antone Camp French Miner Burial Site Demartini Daughter Burial Site Fourth Crossing Cemetery Gillam Ranch Burial Site 2 graves Jenny Lind Cemetery Jesus Maria Cemetery Knights Ferry (Oak Grove) Cemetery Milton Masonic Cemetery Mokelumne Hill Catholic, Jewish and Protestant Cemeteries Mosquito Gulch Cemetery Mountain Ranch Cemetery Murphys Catholic, Buena Vista Cemeteries North Branch (San Andreas Pioneer) Cemetery Pleasant Springs Cemetery Railroad Flat Independence Cemetery Rich Gulch Cemetery San Andreas Catholic and Protestant Cemeteries Sandy Gulch Cemetery Indian Cemetery Sheep Ranch Cemetery Telegraph City Cemetery Beardslee Grave Sites Napoleon Mine Shafer Place Vallecito IOOF and Indian Cemeteries West Point Cemetery Porteous Ranch Cemetery.
