NOW AVAILABLE: CALAVERAS COUNTY INDEX TO DEATH RECORDS.  At the Calaveras County Main Public Library, Genealogy Section at 891 Mt. Ranch Road in San Andreas, CA and in the Calaveras Genealogical Society's newsletter,"The Froghorn".

There are many cemetery sites in Calaveras County, some of them holding only a few graves or with all evidence of graves vanished. The Calaveras Genealogical Society formed a committee in 2005 to re-survey all the existing cemetery sites using the original data done by well known local researcher Herb Good and updating it. The cemeteries that no longer exist will be indexed by using old written data from the archives, library and other sources. When the survey is completed! the indexes for the different cemetery sites will be searchable alphabetically.  In conjunction with the cemetery project the Society is also doing an obituary project to form an index of all known deaths in Calaveras County and to add the information from the written obituaries so that researchers will have access to even more information on their ancestors.
