August 8: "Writing Your Family History" presented by CGS Board member Terry Stone.
Do you want to write your story or your families story and don't know how or where to start? Well this is the class for you. We will cover how to start, where to start, tips and tricks to get you started writing and to keep writing. We will discuss writing prompts to get your ideas flowing, and how to incorporate pictures and documents into your stories. 10 a.m.-12 noon.
12:30 - 2:00 p.m. Technology for Genealogy & Brick Wall Busters Special Interest Groups (SIG's) Meeting
The first meeting of the Technology for Genealogy & Brick Wall Busters SIG's. These groups will meet on even number months after the general meetings. Come to this first meeting to discuss ideas on how the groups will fit together and work. Bring a lunch and your computer if you are looking for help from the technology group.
September 6: Board Meeting 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the Calaveras County Library, San Andreas
September 12:"Organizing the Branches of your Family Tree", presented by Valarie BEADLE. Valarie will walk through setting up digital and offline files, labeling for easier sorting and preserving of documents and images and going from a working file to a completed album of a particular line, family or individual. Valarie is a CGS member, local realtor, Member of the Association of Professional Genealogists; National Genealogical Society and Family History Consultant for the LDS Church, specializing in “the Great Emigration - 1620-1640”, Early Colonial America and Western European research. 10 a.m.-12 noon
12:30 - 2:00 p.m. Writer's Group Special Interest Group (SIG) Meeting The first meeting of the Writers Group SIG's. This group will meet on odd number months after the general meetings. If you are interested in getting going or continuing with your writing projects, plan on coming to this first meeting to see what the group will be about and five your input on what you would like to get out of this group. Bring a lunch and any completed writing projects you would like to share.
October 4: Board Meeting 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the Calaveras County Library, San Andreas
October 10:"Create Gifts and Holiday Decor with your Family Research,” presented by artist and CGS member Wendy BLACK. Wendy describes the inspiration behind this class: "Learning my family's stories from the past has made my ancestors come alive for me. I identify with their joys, sorrows, successes and mistakes. Then they sit hidden in boxes and files. Let's use photos, mementos and documents to create gifts and decor for yourself and family members and immortalize those ancestors for future generations."

CGS members attended Tuolumne County's Genealogical Society Fall Seminar. We had a display table and enjoyed networking with other genealogists.
2016 Mountain Ranch Day in the Park
General Membership meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 10:00am in San Andreas in the Chesebrough Room at the Calaveras County Library unless otherwise noted.
A different program is presented each month. All membership meetings are open to the public.
Board meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month in the small conference room at the library starting at 9:30am.
