Janice Sellers led the 2015 Spring Seminar held in Murphys. She had a rocky start to her day when her car would not start, but managed to borrow another vehicle and found her way to Murphys.

April 22: Spring Seminar Featuring Ron Arons as Speaker.  9:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at Good Samaritan Community Covenant Church in Valley Springs.  Doors open at 8:30 a.m. for registration, coffee and snacks.  Ron will be presenting four topics. "What's in A Name? Trouble!", "Mind Maps for Genealogy", "Finding Living People on the Internet", "Nifty Technologies for Genealogical Research Analysis and Reporting".  See the Flyer here for more information.  Cost is $25 for CGS members, $30 non-members for advance registration.  $30 members, $35 non-members at the door.  

May 3:Board Meeting 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the Calaveras County Library, San Andreas 

May 9:"Using Military Records"presented by Kathryn Miller Marshall, Ph.D.  Was has impacted nearly every generation.  Learn about the rich genealogical content of military records and draft registrations.  Read regimental histories, prisoner exchange agreements, descriptions of your ancestors in discharge papers, and delve into pension applications years later.  Acquire copies of service records from the Military Personnel Center  Visit Fold3, Alexander Street Civil War records collection, Archives.go, the BLM, and other top websites with military content.  Civilians during war eras can be traced with state censuses, city and regional directories, amnesty papers, records of "disloyal citizens" and political prisoners, newspapers, and more. 10:00 a.m. - 12 noon 

June 7:  Board Meeting 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the Calaveras County Library, San Andreas 

June 13:"CGS Summer Social at Thorn Mansion" The Thorn Mansion—a national historic home—stands just off the highway, at 87 East St. Charles Street (Hwy 49) in San Andreas. The brick Gothic Revival mansion was called “the grandest house in the mountains” after it was constructed in 1861 for Sheriff Benjamin Kent THORN and his wife Annie MEEKS. CGS member Rurik KALLIS and his wife Marjorie purchased it in 2001 and have been living in and restoring it ever since, opening it for weddings and special events. Rurik will share the Mansion's history and lead a tour of the house and his antique car collection. Bring your lunch, a drink, sun hat and lawn chair and join us in the backyard garden for a fascinating house history, tour and social time. Parking is available along St. Charles Street (Limited parking down the driveway by the garage for 3-4 cars, for those with restricted mobility.) 10 a.m.-12 noon. 

General Membership meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 10:00am in San Andreas in the Chesebrough Room at the Calaveras County Library unless otherwise noted.  

A different program is presented each month. All membership meetings are open to the public.

Board meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month in the small conference room at the library starting at 9:30am.

The 2016 Summer Social was a walking tour of Angels Camp led by Judith Marvin. 

The 2016 Spring Seminar held in Murphys featured Kathryn Miller Marshall, PhD as the speaker.

CGS members attended Tuolumne County's Genealogical Society Fall Seminar.  We had a display table and enjoyed networking with other genealogists.
